One stop shopping saves on siding cost

While you may be sticking to a strict budget these days, spending a little more on exterior home improvements could actually increase your savings. If you're planning a siding replacement on your home, adding a few other upgrades could make you eligible for a package deal discount. Many siding contractors and exterior building supply distributors may combine your fiber cement or vinyl siding replacement with other improvements and give you a price break on the entire project.

Adding these upgrades may provide savings on your siding cost

If the time has come to replace your home's siding, there's a pretty good chance a few other exterior items may not lag far behind. Hiring a siding contractor to do some or all of these additional tasks while installing your siding may cost a little more now, but you could save money in the long run. Contractors are often willing to provide discounts for larger projects that keep their crews busy and pass on a portion of price breaks their material suppliers may provide. A few other exterior upgrades to consider when it's time to have new fiber cement or vinyl siding installed:

  1. Gutters and downspouts. Leaking or clogged gutters can cause damage to landscaping and may even lead to foundation repairs.
  2. Aluminum clad fascia. Installing low-maintenance cladding over your fascia means no more exterior painting in a hard to reach place. If you install new perforated soffit at the same time, the additional attic ventilation may help lower heating and cooling costs.
  3. Replacement windows. If your home's windows are over a decade old, there's a good chance they're not as energy-efficient as they could be. Today's eco-friendly Energy Star rated windows can reduce the amount you spend on heating and cooling every year.

Try the combo-meal of exterior home improvements by adding one or more of these upgrades to your siding replacement project for potential savings.
